3years ago

Three years ago I had a baby

His name was Jackson and he was perfect

I'd never held anything so cute in my life!

He was my Merry Christmas

Now he's 3....

I still insist he's the most handsomest child I ever laid eyes on! He makes me crazy, and makes me laugh. What a wonderful little boy Heavenly Father left in my care.

I can't believe how much he's grown. I only hope to raise him well and teach him everything I know to be true and good.

I love you forever Jaxy! Happy birthday to you (belated of course)

Halloween at our house

This year Halloween wasn't exactly how we had planned it. It started off by us first asking Jackson what he wanted to be. Since he's almost 3 now I figured I should get his input. Last year he was too little to know what was going on, so we just chose for him and he was fine with it. We did take him trick or treating last year....but it was cold and he was tired, so it ended with him crying because he wanted a lollipop and all people were giving him was chocolate.
This year was bound to be better, upon asking him what he wanted to be these were the most popular responses: "Peter Pan (he loves watching Disney's Peter Pan), Captain Hook, Star Wars (perferrably with a gun), and I dunno (whatever that is)." Disney makes a wicked amazing Peter Pan and Captain Hook costume, which are apparently the 2 most popular 3 yr old costume ever. They were sold out a month before Halloween. On to plan b.) deciding on something and convincing Jackson that's indeed exactly what he wanted to be.
Plan b seemed to be going as planned. We chose a Woody costume for Jax, confident that we could easily convince him since he could carry a gun:) now onto the hard part, deciding and getting costumes for Danny and I.
Now I don't know about Danny, but I enjoy dressing up and coming up with clever costumes for us to wear together. I dressed up for Halloween as a kid every year. Most years my mom helped create and sew all of our costumes. Now that I'm an adult, I get to do it by myself;)
Last year we went as Mr. and Mrs. Potato head and Jax was our green adopted alien:)
This year we settled on Jesse, Stinky Pete the Prospector, and of course Woody. Also know as Woodys roundup:

This is as close of a shot I got of Jackson in his costume, but as you can tell, we look awesome. Danny and I made our costumes by ourselves. I made all our clothes and Danny made his hat and axe. I wish I'd gotten a picture of Danny at our ward party, cuz we added a fake beard for that one and it looked awesome. But all things considered, I love how they came out. I was proud of all the inventive ideas we just came up with by putting our heads together and trying things out. Danny did a great job on his hat and axe, and they came out better than I ever expected!
We went to our friends ward trunk or treat earlier this week and then on Halloween, Danny's work had a big office trick or treat and after that jax was pretty much done. We did take him to our neighbor Gwen's house, cuz we promised we'd stop by, but beyond that we just came home and handed out candy to neighbor kids while Jackson was sleeping.
Jackson + lots of candy = crazy Jackson. And no one likes a crazy cranky miserable almost 3 yr old. No one.
Also since we don't keep candy around the house often I learned a very important lesson this Halloween. Candy makes you feel like crap and crash hard, making 9:00pm seem like midnight. And then you have a hard time waking up, and you wish that candy never existed. Moral to this story: candy is bad for you, just say no!
(Although Reese's pumpkins are my favorite-just sayin)

Caught in the rain: a cautionary tale

Yesterday late in the afternoon Jackson begged to go to the park. It was gloomy and mildly cold, but I said yes anyway cuz we'd been cooped up for the last few days. We got the stroller out and started to walk when I had a feeling I should bring the umbrella along just in case. We made it to the park, and started swinging when I noticed it started to rain. Uh oh. Panic. "Hurry Jackson to the stroller" I shouted. We made it there just in time to get under the umbrella and figure out what to do next. It was raining to hard to stay, and it was gonna be a long walk home, but I said "let's go before we get too wet, and I'll let you hold the umbrella."
Well little did I know, a freak storm was on its way. We no sooner had left the park them a huge storm hit us full fledged. Winds whipping and swirling, rain pelting, thunder clapping and me running as fast as I could to get us home while leaves pelted me in the face, and rain soaked my clothes!
It was so windy Jackson couldn't hold the umbrella any longer! It was about to fold in on itself. So I closed it only to find the wind whipping harder, the rain pouring harder and the storm raging!
I never ran/jogged so quickly and with as much fervency as I did yesterday. We safely made it back to the house, after much crying from Jackson because the wind was blowing his jacket off his head and soaking him to the core. Here's some before and after photos:
Here we just made it to the park and started playing
Jackson picked me a rose when we got there, so I put it in my hair, and he exclaimed "mommy you pretty"

Next you'll see we are hiding with our hoodies on under the umbrella...

Jackson was so excited he had to wave to the camera. He likes rain a lot more than I do!
I did not get any more photos after this one because it was pouring and I couldn't take my phone out of my pocket without soaking it!
And that's the story of how we got caught in the rain!!

October is here!

So for a while I have wanted to take cake decorating classes. Michaels had the class on sale for $10 which I totally couldn't pass up. I have been to 2 classes so far, and here's the cake I made on Friday for class

It's not perfect, and i don't claim to be amazing, but for being my first time doing some of the techniques I'd say its pretty darn awesome:)
I also made these fun Halloween treats this last week. Mummy Oreo pops:) cute huh? They will surely brighten up someone's day.
Then on Saturday we took jax out to the corn maze again, this time during the day. Its definitely October here and a chill is in the air. Even though our trip got rained out, we had a fun time for the hour or so we were there. We picked out a sweet pumpkin from the pumpkin patch and we took our picture with this huge wooper! It was like 300lbs!

And last but not least, our friends Derek and Bree had their baby last week and Danny and I got to go visit them in the hospital. His name is Nathan, he has a ton of hair, and he's just the sweetest baby I ever saw (besides Jackson of course;))

The end!

Cornbelly's corn maze

On Friday night, Danny, Jackson and I all went to Thanksgiving Pointe and went to the corn maze. This year they had a special going on, so we bought a season pass. Friday was opening day. We had so much fun!
First we climbed up a giant rocking chair:

Yay he made it. And so did daddy!
Next we pretended we were a corn on the cob,
We went down slides...

Played in airplanes and tractors..

Got stuck in a spider web:
And went on a hayride.
We played and got lost in a corn maze, and we wouldn't have made it out if it hasn't been for Danny;)

Right before we went home Jackson played in a little playhouse full of corn kernels!! He thought it was the coolest thing ever!!

The end:)

Chalk the Block

There was a really fun festival going on this weekend in Utah called Chalk the Block. It is exactly what it sounds. Artists from everywhere came and drew with chalk on the sidewalk! It was amazing and I had the best time. Here's a photo post of everything we saw:

This one was my favorite:)

And while we were there Jackson found a motorcycle to ride on at Marleys

Looking up to see the rain, cuz it had started to sprinkle

It was an amazing day!
