teething away
Jackson's finally got a tooth. it happened last Saturday as a matter of fact! its on the bottom, and he is working on more. the bump on his gums only appeared a few days before that and he quickly went to work on getting it out:) he's doing great. he can roll over from front to back, and back to front, and he can sit up. he's working on crawling. he can get in the position, but sort of just scoots around for now. i have a ton of pictures to post as well...but i may have to just do that with my phone since it will be much faster...so watch for more pictures. it was nice, warm, and breezy outside today, and so when me and Jackson went to check the mail we also decided to sit down under a shady tree and stay there for a while enjoying the outdoors. Jackson loved it. he loved feeling the wind on his face and in his hair, he loved feeling the grass between his toes and enjoyed picking up leaves:) it was so nice just to sit outside not in the sweltering heat! thank goodness for trees!!
now its after 7 and Jax has gone to bed, so i finally have a few minutes to post something:)
in other news, Danny might have a new sweet job. I don't want to say anything about it yet, since Danny will want to tell about it:) it will be a nice change i hope.
this weekend is 4th of July and so we have a wonderful 3 day weekend with Danny! that is the best thing ever. we have lots of laundry to do, and maybe a trip to the temple will be in order, but other than that, we are just hanging out and having fun. :)

Danny's new position
So just so everyone doesn't think all I do is write things about Jackson, this post is entirely about Danny! Danny got promoted to a new position at work yesterday. He is now the project manager:) he does a bunch of cool new things, that he can tell you all about. There isn't a pay increase, but his bonus schedule will be different now, so there is potential to make more money. Danny's excited to take on new responsibilities. For now it means going to work a lot earlier than usual, and staying late too. Hopefully that will pass when he can get a lot of the initial work out of the way, so that he can actually see Jackson when he gets home. If you talk to him tell him congrats!

6 month checkup
So, Jackson had his 6 month checkup today! he weighed 18.06 lbs, he was 27.25 inches long, and his head was 16.8 inches around. Doctor says he is doing fantastic and to keep up the good work. he also wrote Jackson a Rx for some fluoride, since the doc says his teeth will be coming in soon.
Jackson also had to get 3 shots and a drink vaccine while we were there. the pics below are of the shiny band-aids they stuck to his legs. they look like some wrapping paper my mom has at home. Jackson did so good and now he is taking a much deserved nap. poor thing.
anyways, i have taken quite a few pictures of him in the last few days...so i will be posting more pictures of my little snuggle kins.
that's all for now, toodles!

Pinch me
So Jax has his 6 month appt in a week, so I've been practicing lots of the activities on the checklist the dr gave us. One is to place cheerios on the table in front of him and see if he can do the pincher grasp (by pinching the thumb and first finger together), or if he simply tries to rake them in with his hand. Since Natalie let us borrow her high chair on Sunday, I have a nice place for him to sit and practice things! This morning, while I was making birthday breakfast for Danny, I put out some cheerios and let him practice to see what he did. Turns out he can already do the pincher grasp!! He just reached down and pinched his fingers together and picked up a cheerio!!!!! I'm so proud of him!!! He's getting so big, and learning tons:):)
One more trick he can do:
he can hold his own bottle:):)
Yesterday afternoon we went swimming with our friend Ashley! Jackson loved it. He was such a happy camper. I forgot my camera, but we will be back to the pool in no time, so I will soon have more pictures:)
That's all for now! Toodles

Project 365
To start: a pic of a page on my iPhone:
So, I added an app to my phone last week called project 365. Its a 2010 calendar that every day you take a picture and post a caption with it. I thought this couldn't be more awesome! Sure it will take a few tiny minutes out of my day, but it's worth it. By the end of the year, I will have an entire years worth of pictures:) The pictures mainly consist of Jackson, since I am with him 24/7 and he's so darn cute, but there are a few that aren't as well. Anyway, most of the credit should go to my sister Jodi. She's taken a picture every day since she's moved to Texas, and posted it on facebook, and I have to say I thought it was a superb idea!! The rest of the credit goes to Danny for actually showing me the app! Thanks babe!
And yes I posted this from my phone!! How sweet is that??!

my candy-coated baby
So, yesterday i get a phone call from Jackson's doctors office, letting me know that i needed to bring him in to have his blood drawn for part of the immunization study we are participating in. I made an appointment for 10:00am and promptly texted Danny at work to let him know. I admit i was a little worried about the whole thing, but tried not to show it. we took him in this morning and waited for the nurse to call us back. she took us into a room where she tied a rubber band around Jackson's arm so that she could find the best vein available. she finally decided that his right arm was the best place. then she placed this big sticky clear bandage, with a big glob of numby stuff on it, onto his arm. on top of that she put a diaper that she had soaked in hot water and wrapped it around tightly so to heat up the numbing cream and help it penetrate better. she said for us to wait about 10 min and she would return and finish the blood draw. we waited and waited and after about 20 min she finally showed back up again. after removal of the band-aid and diaper she gave Jackson a little DumDum sucker to distract him. boy did itwork. he loved the sucker. probably because he had never eaten anything like it before! he was in heaven and he didnt even notice that by this time the nurse was poking around in his arm with the needle. only problem was she couldn't find the vein!!
she was just poking and poking and his poor little arm was bleeding, and jackson was none the wiser! after about 5 min of poking around with no success, she decided to move to the other arm, that she didn't numb and try that one. luckily she had some freezing spray to help numb it. again she spent about 5 min fishing around in his tiny little arm. then after that was not successful she wanted to see if she could do it in his hand....after examining that she went back to the first arm and tried a second time.....
now by this time Jackson has pretty much made his way down to the last little bit of the sucker. still no crying or fussing and his face was covered in sticky sucker slobber...but without the yummy candy to keep him happy i started getting worried that she wasn't going to be able to get it done before he finished, which might end up with Jax kicking and screaming. Danny looked over and could tell i was fraught with terror and told me not to look. i calmly looked at the nurse and told her to hurry up or the sucker was going to be gone. after another minute or so she finally got it!!! Hallelujah!!! both of his arms were bleeding so they tried to put cotton balls and band-aids on them both...but it didn't last, they just came right back off.
anyways long story not short, it was traumatizing for me, but Jax was fine with it!
lesson learned:
Jackson really likes DumDum suckers. the end:)
